Peru imposes curfew to quell protests over price hikes | app

LIMA, Peru (AP) — Peruvian President Pedro Castillo has imposed a strict curfew on the country’s capital and main port in response to sometimes violent safeguards against rising fuel and food prices.

Shortly before midnight, the president announced that people were to stay largely at home through 2 a.m. Tuesday due to violence, which had left four people dead in the past week, the burning of toll booths and small-scale looting.
