Dell Technologies has announced that Dell Apex Data Storage Services is now available in South Africa. Dell’s Apex as a Service data protection, storage and hyper-converged solutions are powered by Intel hardware.
A recent survey by Enterprise Strategy Group reveals that 54% of organizations would prefer a consumption-based model where their data center infrastructure is purchased on a pay-as-you-go basis.1 Dell Apex Data Storage Services offers the industry-leading enterprise storage-as-a-service portfolio.
“This means customers pay for the storage capacity they use and can scale to the level of service they need with infrastructure Dell owns and maintains,” says Doug Woolley, GM, Dell Technologies South Africa. “Customers and partners have flexibility and control over who performs day-to-day management operations with Dell-managed and customer-managed options.”
This latest data storage offering from Dell Technologies helps South African organizations address region-specific challenges. First, the choice of consumption models allows companies to choose how and when to invest in technology, making it easier to preserve cash. Transparent costs and payments are distributed throughout the contract, ensuring greater predictability.
Second, Apex delivers modern cloud and consumer experiences across Dell’s innovative portfolio, backed by global services, scale and supply chain leadership. This helps ensure that the client’s technology stays aligned with business requirements so they can react quickly to capture new opportunities.
“With Apex, our customers maintain greater control of data to minimize risk and maximize return, all on their own terms,” says Woolley.
Additionally, load shedding challenges can be overcome with Apex’s consumption-based model that can be hosted in any data center, including shared facilities. Customers can use any vendor-independent data center that provides critical engineering infrastructure, physical security, and interconnects between customers and the ecosystem.
With traditional procurement models, forecasting future workloads is challenging and can result in over or under provisioning, leading to wasted resources or unwanted downtime. In contrast, Apex prices are set in South African rand at the beginning of the contract term, and options to extend during the term are quoted at the same unit price. This adds even more stability and predictability to the client’s financial commitment.
