Young women from Lincoln, Hershey and North Platte won the titles of Miss Alliance, Miss Chadron and Miss Fur Trade Days on Saturday in the Best of the West scholarship contest at Alliance.

Miss Alliance Rose Seeman is a senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln while Miss Chadron Katie Hoatson is a senior at North Platte High.

Miss Fur Trade Days is Katelyn Bowers, a senior at North Platte High. All 3 will qualify for the Miss Nebraska contest next June at North Platte

The new Miss Alliance’s Outstanding Teen and Miss Chadron’s Outstanding Teen were also crowned on Saturday night.

Alexandra Thompson, 13, of North Platte, has been named Miss Alliance’s Outstanding Teen along with Olivia Terwey of Hastings Miss Chadron OT. They are also going to the state competition next June in North Platte.

Other Miss level accolades included Kately Bowers as Overall Community Service Winner, Gering’s Sydny Ridgeway was Audience Choice and Community Service 2nd and was the Audience Choice Award winner for the competition.

For teenage competitors, Olivia Terwey was the winner in Community Service and People’s Choice while Alexandra Thompson was 2nd in Community Service

Lexi Nolda of North Platte at Miss level and Rylie Wright of Hemingford for teens voted by their peers as Miss Congeniality.

There were 5 candidates vying for the Outstanding Teen titles and 7 for the Miss titles. The co-MCs for the evening were Miss Nebraska 2021 Morgan Holen and her mother, Miss Nebraska 1988 Jodi Miller Holen – the first mother-daughter Miss Nebraskas.

Morgan Holen will represent the state next month at the 100e Anniversary Miss America Scholarship Pageant.

The Best in the West contest is an amalgamation of the Miss Chadron and Miss Alliance contests, but director Rikki Hunter is hoping to find someone to take over from Chadron and return to separate contests.
