An arrest was made after a months-long investigation into a fatal accident in May.
New York State Police based at Oneonta Barracks and the NYSP’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) say the driver of the passenger vehicle involved in the incident, Adam S. Bright, 39, of East Meredith, New York, was arrested on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
The accident was a head-on collision between a minivan and a tractor-trailer that occurred around 4 a.m. on May 26, 2022 on State Highway 23 in Davenport.
Bright, the driver of the van, had been airlifted to hospital for treatment of injuries that police said were not life-threatening.
In a written NYSP statement, authorities say, “Bright passenger Stacey M. Stachow, 43, of Meredith, died at the scene of the crash. The tractor-trailer operator sustained injuries. minors and was treated and released at a local hospital.”
Following their investigation, soldiers took Bright into custody on August 17, 2022. The NYSP says he was arraigned in Hamden City Court, charged with the following:
- Homicide with aggravated vehicle (Class B felony)
- Aggravated Vehicular Assault (Class C felony)
- First-degree aggravated unlicensed operation (Class E felony)
- Operation without a license aggravated in the third degree (misdemeanor)
- Driving while impaired by drugs (misdemeanor)
- Reckless driving (misdemeanor)
Bright was sent to the Delaware County Jail and will face charges in court at a later date.
